First Snowfall of the Season

When we left for Bachmans it wasn't doing anything outside and I thought we were going to get just a dusting.   When we left Bachmans it was sleeting out really bad and the roads were already getting slick.  By the time we got home, which was less than 10 minutes, the sleet turned into snowflakes and Wyatt was so giddy.  Dealing with a growing toddler means all of Wyatt's winter gear is brand new and he couldn't wait to put everything on.  His favorite article of clothing are his new spider webbed Bogs, "These are so awesome, Mom!"

Had to hang our bird feeder.  We hung it on a tree we planted this year- we figured the squirrels wouldn't get to this one with the stake attached to the trunk.

The sidewalk was full of snow so we were making snowballs from the small pile I made.  He's trying to launch one at me.

Santa!

The day is here!  Our 3rd annual Bachman's Holiday Open House with the arrival of Santa, his reindeer and his Elf, Albert.  Wyatt at least talks about sitting next to Santa on the bench but when we saw him arrive he said, "Mom, I don't like Santa because he has a white beard- that scares me."  All my hope went out the window.  I think I'm going to cherish his 2 year photo with Santa...that may be the only one we'll ever have.  The best part of the day was making reindeer food and a pine cone bird feeder- always a favorite!

Tonight Wyatt wanted me to help him wrap up his babies (AKA shampoo and conditioner bottles).  He called them Baby 1 and Baby 2.  I love imaginations of 3 year olds.

Happy Halloween!

This year I felt like we celebrated Halloween forever before Halloween was actually here.  It was a great week and glad we have such great friends to join in on the fun.  Optimus Prime had a great time trick-or-treating last night and I actually got a picture of him with his mask on...I bet he's smiling under that mask!

Halloween Party at the Rinkes

Amy and Erik Rinke invited us over for a Halloween party on Saturday.  Amy had a cupcake decorating station and a craft table to make spooky spiders and webs.  There were 4 families there with a total of 13 children.  Dan and I were the only family there without 3 kids.  Needless to say, Wyatt had a blast with the other kids and I had a blast making a Spider Cheese Ball and a Mummy (which I later added spinach dip to).

I wish I was blessed with a child that enjoyed being photographed.  I hope this changes soon enough.



Preschool Halloween Party

Wyatt's preschool class had a little Halloween Party last Friday.  It was fun to meet other parents and see all the kids together.  They sang songs, played games and paraded around in their costumes.

Later that evening I took Wyatt and Luca to Lunds for their BOO Festival.  We had never been before and they had a great time.  He's getting a lot of use out of Optimus Prime this year.

I'm so glad a got a picture of this.  The kids were waiting in line for a snack and this little boy tells Wyatt, "I'm a knight and I can slay dragons."  Wyatt's comment back to him was, "Well, I'm Optimus Prime!"  ...with Batman (Harrison) as his wing man.

Halloween Week

We thought we'd start the Halloween week off with a little baking.  Wyatt has had this fascination with eyeballs so I found a cute recipe for eyeball cookies....I thought it was very suiting.  Then of course I had to tackle making chocolate batty cupcakes for the fun of it.  Halloween is coming in at a close second to Christmas this year.  So much fun!

Weekend in Northfield

Dan was fishing for the weekend so Wyatt and I headed to Northfield to stay with my parents for a couple days.  We woke up Saturday morning and headed to farmers market then to the apple orchard and then to a farm.  The weather was a bit chilly but we were having so much fun no one cared.  It wouldn't be a fulfilled weekend without baking with my mom- we made delicious apple bars from the apples we purchased at the orchard.  Yummy!

Driver Wyatt

Wyatt was busy riding his bike and followed me to the driveway so I could get something out of the car.  He wanted to drive so I gave him the keys- he thinks he's pretty cool in the driver's seat and loves to open and close the sunroof.  For some reason he didn't want to take his helmet off...oh, well.

Girls Weekend 2011

Every year I get together with my mom, aunt and cousins for a weekend in October.  We had a blast, as always.  Good times were had by all!

Fractured Heel

My right leg companion for a few weeks.  Fractured my heel and damaged my plantar faciitis.  I wish I had a better story to tell but I jumped off a playground pole and my heel landed directly on the concrete footing.  I should have been wearing appropriate shoes but of course I was in a dress with legging wearing flats.  Wyatt just wanted me to chase him 'one more time' so I did and I paid for it :(

Iron Girl 2011

We are so proud of Mana Pat and Auntie Kimmy for finishing the Iron Girl.  They've inspired me to join them next year and hopefully I've inspired Megan to join me :)  What a fun day cheering them on.

We had about an hour before we'd see Kim and Pat, hopefully together, for their second loop of the bike portion.  We wanted to be on a hill so they'd be going a little slower- of course the sun was behind the wall which made it a little chilly...

...especially for Wyatt.

 

I never got a picture of them coming at us because I was too busy screaming at the top of my lungs.  There goes Kim in the long sleeved pink top and Pat is right in front of her.
